David Marks - President
David Marks is the President and founder of Tierra Energy. Mr. Marks has extensive experience in the energy industry,
specializing in electric power project development, asset acquisition, and natural gas supply. Mr. Marks has served
as Energy Advisor to two former Texas Governors. He has led numerous gas and power transactions including
the evaluation, acquisition, and financing of currently operating gas-fired and renewable generation projects.
Mr. Marks is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Government.
Bill Keeney - Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Bill Keeney is Tierra Energy's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Keeney has significant experience in
the energy industry, with a focus on the acquisition, financing, and management of power generation assets. Prior to
joining Tierra, Mr. Keeney led the acquisition of operating natural gas-fired generation projects and held asset
management responsibilities for a portfolio of power generation assets at Aquila. Mr. Keeney received his MBA from
Wharton and is a graduate of Pomona College where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Andrew Dickson - Vice President of Business Development
Andrew Dickson is a Vice President at Tierra Energy, responsible for windpower development activities, due diligence
for power generation asset acquisitions, and new business development. Mr. Dickson was previously with Enron North
America, where he worked extensively with the optimization and restructuring of combined-cycle power facilities. Mr.
Dickson graduated with Honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration,
specializing in Finance.
Rich Nerzig - Vice President of Project Development
Rich Nerzig is the Director of Project Development for Tierra Energy. Mr. Nerzig has 15 years of power project development and management experience including the past
ten years in the development, engineering, construction, and operation of utility scale wind energy projects throughout the U.S. Mr. Nerzig was the Facility/Asset Manager of the Big Spring and Westex I Windfarms, both located in West Texas, from 1998 to 2002. The Big Spring project was recognized as the 1999 Power Plant of the Year by Power Magazine. Rich has served on the Board of Directors for the New York City Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Mr. Nerzig has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree from New York University, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Greg Trewitt - Vice President of Development & Engineering
Greg Trewitt is the Vice President of Development & Engineering for Tierra
Energy. Mr. Trewitt is experienced in project development, engineering,
operations and maintenance, and asset management of gas/coal/hydro power plants
in regulated and non-regulated environments. He has over 20 years experience in
the power industry with specific experience in project development and
operations of new and re-powered plant facilities in the United States and South
America. Mr. Trewitt joined Tierra from Black Hills Energy where he served as
Director of Operations and Asset Management. Mr. Trewitt holds Bachelor of
Science degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State
University.
Theodore Matula – Vice President and General Counsel
Tedd Matula is Tierra Energy’s Vice President and General Counsel and is
responsible for directing the legal affairs of the company. Prior to joining
Tierra Energy, Mr. Matula served as Senior Counsel for Black Hills Corporation,
a diverse publicly held energy company with holdings in the utility, power
generation, exploration and production, and marketing sectors. At Black Hills,
he oversaw the legal affairs of the business development and corporate finance
groups on significant acquisitions, dispositions, power purchase agreements and
financings, and provided day-to-day counsel to the company’s non-regulated
divisions. Mr. Matula also practiced law with Vinson & Elkins and Hogan &
Hartson concentrating in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and
acquisitions, securities issuance and compliance, and private equity. Mr. Matula
received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy from Southern Methodist
University, and a Juris Doctor from SMU School of Law.
Heidi Hentschel - Controller
Heidi Hentschel is Controller of Tierra Energy, responsible for accounting, forecasting and budgeting,
investment project tracking, and human resource functions. Heidi previously worked for Renewable Energy Systems, a
company specializing in windpower project development and construction, where she was responsible for general ledger,
project tracking, and payroll administration. Ms. Hentschel received her MBA from St. Edward's University, in Austin,
Texas, and is also a graduate of Bentley College, in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received her degree in Finance/Economics.
